S03E04

Episode Outline

After Nick Santora dressed down the rude fan on PBreak Fans board, I've felt kind of bad for all my comments. So, an open letter to everyone associated with Prison Break: you know I love you guys, right? You could kill Sara and I'll still love you. You could move the entire show to the surface of Mars and have every actor speaking Swahili and have absolutely nothing make sense, and I would still love you. As long as Michael and Sucre stay alive, we're not going to have any problems. The sarcasm is my sense of humour. Plus, I gotta play it up for the readers.

It's actually Alex (our site master) who doesn't love you. He said he wants to fight you guys. Or maybe just Dominic Purcell. I laughed and said that Dom could flatten him in about a nanosecond. SeemsSoSurreal says that Dom is "6'5' with pecs the size of a small country" and Alex shouldn't say anything. Then Alex fired me. I scoffed and said "I'd like to see you try". In many ways, our relationship is like a dysfunctional marriage: he can't live without me and I silently plot his death. But it works for us, you know? (Disclaimer: I may have taken creative liberties with Alex's statement. He may have said that he actually finds Dominic Purcell to be attractive. I don't know. I tend to exaggerate the truth alot).

So, to all the writers, producers, staff and actors on Prison Break: I won't ever abandon you guys. And when I make snide comments, I'm just showing love. Remember that. But with that in mind, I still beg of you.....please don't let it be Sara's head in the box.

There's only one thing on the "previously on Prison Break" thing worth mentioning: they show the death of Haywire. Interesting. We open with Lincoln in a taxi and they STILL won't tell us what's in the box. All we know is Lincoln is really upset about it. Michael, meanwhile, is staring outside the window at the gravedigger and the electric fence around the prison. Whistler comes in and tells Michael that the fence is dead, but none of that matters since the guards will shoot people before anyone gets within 50 feet of the fence. Whistler's not really what you call a "motivational speaker" is he? And considering he's counting on Michael to save his ass, you'd think he'd be a bit more positive and helpful. Michael tells Whistler to bugger off so he can get on with the prison breaking.

Lincoln visiting with Michael and acting all shifty. Michael wants Lincoln to pass a message onto the gravedigger and realizes Lincoln is being cagey. When confronted, Lincoln refuses to talk. He walks away and....we see Sara's head in the box. Oh god. I can't go on. I need a minute to compose myself.

Lincoln looks devastated but he doesn't tell Michael. I liked Lincoln right up until this very moment. To not tell your brother that the woman he loved was just decapitated is harsh. Very, very harsh. I'm going to warn you guys, I don't know if I can be sarcastic during this recap anymore. I'm sort of depressed. I wasn't a die-hard Sara Tancredi fan, but I liked her.

Lincoln's visiting with the she-bitch from hell, otherwise known as Susan. She somehow wants to convince Lincoln that she feels terrible for what she had to do to Sara, but ruins that by saying that she's happy to mail pieces of LJ to Lincoln unless he and Michael get cracking. He tells her they have to bring the grave digger onto the team and she demands the real bird book from him, which he hands over.

They have a magazine stand in Sona. I'm not convinced that Sona is the hell they want me to believe it is. Anything that has a magazine stand isn't all that bad. I bet I could even get my US Weekly in there. Michael's managed to procure a metal crucifix from McGrady, who wants to know what he's going to do with it.

Nun McHoochie, from episode 1, is playing with Lechero in his room when the lights go out in Sona. Mahone, meanwhile, is having a very, very bad hair day. And he's hallucinating bloody hands touching his shoulder. Michael tells Mahone he can join in the reindeer games of breaking out and asks him to get him a black-felt pen. He also tells Mahone to stop with the withdrawal because it's ruining his hair. Or maybe the plan. Bellick is spying close by.

We see that the power has gone out in Sona, and the only "electrician" in there is a truck driver. Ergo? No help. Meanwhile, Bellick tells Mahone they should team up, but Mahone's not down with that.

Whistler's visiting with Sofia again, who is very upset that she had to hear about the escape from Lincoln. Whistler asks Sofia to find out everything she can on Linc and Michael.

Back in the courtyard, Michael picks up a roll of electrical tape while Mahone delivers the wrong pen. Haywire's voice comes out of nowhere, telling Mahone that he shouldn't trust Michael.

Lechero finds Michael in the corridors and tells him to get the electricity running again. Michael warns that the electrical wires are probably outside of the Sona walls, but inside the fence surrounding the prison. Lechero tells Michael he's going to go out there and risk getting shot, whether he likes it or not. Lechero says that he'll try to keep Michael safe and in exchange, Michael wants a certain cell, the one where he can see the grave digger doing his thing.

Lincoln arrives back at the hotel where Sucre is surprisingly not suffering from the mother of all hangovers, which is a miracle considering he was passed out a little while ago. He says he's off to Columbia to become a coffee bean picker, but Linc asks him to be a translator for him before he goes. Sofia arrives at the hotel room and tells Lincoln that she wants to help. He decides to use her as a translator instead, considering Sucre is being a selfish jerk. Oh, Sucre, I love you. Why must you be so selfish?

On the outside, Lincoln and Sofia have found the grave digger. Lincoln offers the grave digger enough money to get his junky car moving again if he'll help them out.

We find out that Bellick isn't as stupid as he looks, since he knows that The Company wanted Michael in Sona to work with Whistler. Michael downplays Bellick's knowledge and tells him to get moving if he wants to be part of the digging crew.

In the open area outside Sona, Michael, Whistler, Bellick and two randoms are digging. Michael hits some sort of electrical box and does something, then stuffs some dirt into the box. Bellick runs off, tired of working. Whistler, meanwhile, reveals that he knows exactly who Michael is. Apparently everyone watches CNN is Prison Break land. He also warns that Bellick can't be trusted. Michael says Bellick isn't involved, but Mahone is...up until a certain point, and that point doesn't involve breaking out. Wow, Michael's quite the master manipulator, isn?t he?

Mahone learns to "just say no" to drugs and refuses a dealer. Then changes his mind and asks for his meds (Varatril). The dealer doesn't have that, but offers him something else. The dealer suggests that Mahone pimp himself out to get some cash for drugs, but Mahone quickly announces that he's not down with that.

Bellick approaches Lechero, saying that Michael is using Lechero to escape. *sigh* Bellick reveals that he was a guard at Fox River and tells Lechero that Michael buried something in an electrical box. Lechero goes out to confront Michael.

Outside, Michael is uncovering the dirt he put in the electrical box to reveal that he put tape around the frayed wires. Lechero insists on accompanying Michael to turn on the main power switch.

We flash back to Michael taking McGrady down to the electrical box and placing his crucifix inside of it to prevent the current from running. When he takes out the crucifix, the power is back on. Michael throws the switch in front of Lechero and when the power doesn't turn on immediately he gets a fist in his face for his troubles. He covertly removes the crucifix as he wipes the blood off his face and the power is back on.

T-Bag is making nice-nice with the drug dealer. Then T-Bag's up to his old tricks and suffocates the dealer with a plastic bag. He puts a needle in the guy's arm to make it look like an overdose.

Lincoln is talking to Susan on the phone, saying the grave digger wants $15,000 to join the team. She asks him how he's holding up. For the love of crimey, woman, shut up! You decapitated Sara and you're holding his son hostage. I don't think he wants the two of you to bond. It's just weird. We see she has a blue bubble envelope on the table in front of her. Sofia, meanwhile, is demanding to go with Lincoln. To get her to shut up, he reveals that Sara's head was in the box and LJ is being held hostage. Sucre looks shocked. When he apologizes, Linc dismisses him. I think this may be the catalyst for Sucre to join the team. Come on, buddy. If you're not going to do it for Sara, do it for me.

Lechero is confronting T-Bag, asking if he knows anything about the drug dealer's death. T-Bag's trying to act innocent, but I am of the opinion that pedophiles suck at acting innocent. Lechero is more trusting than I and invites T-Bag to join his posse.

Michael gives McGrady back his cross and Mahone delivers Michael the proper pen. Michael promises to keep Mahone posted. Michael reveals to Whistler that he fixed the electricity to get the fence going again.

The grave digger realizes that he's got a good thing going and demands more than the $15,000. Susan decides that she's not going to take his crap and shoots him, convinced he'll rat them out to the police once he gets his money.

Back in Sona, Mahone's still hallucinating and hearing Haywire's voice. T-Bag approaches Mahone, and offers him drugs, leaving them on the sill.

Bellick is not feeling the love from Lechero, who blames him for providing him with false information about Michael. Bellick tries to save face and insists that Michael will keep trying. Lechero pours hot coffee all over Bellick's back. See? I told you to be nice to Michael, instead of ratting him out.

It looks like Mahone's taken the drugs and is chilling in some dark corridor. Michael's moving into his new cell and staring out the window. Mahone brings Michael the pen and buried a shiv in the wall beside Michael's head. Mahone realizes that Michael sent him for a pen just to keep him distracted and tells Michael he will be accompanying him on the escape. Michael looks suitably freaked out.

Michael asks Lincoln about Sara and LJ and Linc conveniently forgets to mention that Sara now has no head. He tells Michael the grave digger is gone. However...we find that the old grave digger has been replaced, by Sucre! Michael looks relieved to see his old buddy again.

Susan's blue envelope is delivered to Whistler and it contains the bird book, along with a note telling him "you're running out of time".

Michael's watching Sucre and the guards burying the drug dealer and tells Whistler that the dead bodies are being sprayed by a chemical that kills the odors of the decomposing bodies. Sucre starts spraying the chemical on the fence and we see that it also eats through steel.

Seriously? After the sheer complexity of the Fox River escape, Michael is going to escape from Sona through a broken fence?

Well, they've killed off Sara. For anyone who wants to know the reasons behind that, click here to read an interview with Matt Olmstead, executive producer of the show. I just got off the phone with my cousin, Joe, who's excited for the rest of the season. He can't wait to see what Michael does when he finds out about Sara. Maybe Joe's onto something after all.
